FY05 INCITE Goal: Direct Numerical Simulation of a 3D Turbulent Nonpremixed Flame with Detailed Chemistry — Extinction and Reignition Dynamics In anticipation of performing the FY05 INCITE goal, the first Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of a 3D turbulent nonpremixed flame with detailed chemistry aimed at understanding extinction and reignition mechanisms, this poster will describe the optimization of the DNS code, S3D, on the IBM SP at NERSC and the Cray-X1 at ORNL. This poster also describes the preparatory simulations performed on MPP2 at PNNL, BES Opteron Cluster at Sandia, and the Cray-X1 required to select the optimum physical and numerical parameters of the INCITE run.
